He is known as so many dogs beyond the borders of Germany: Niclas Matthei (18) calls himself the “advertising master” and hunts down parking offenders in his hometown of Gräfenhainichen in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and in other cities.

Matthei himself proudly calculated in a Spiegel TV report about him that he had written more than 4,000 advertisements that resulted in more than 140,000 euros in fines. It’s all for the general public, he said of his motivation.

Complaints to the city

He causes dismay in his community when he appears in brightly colored clothing, with his bicycle and a homemade sign reading “POLICE”. Several citizens have already filed a complaint with the city. But is he at least making the authorities happy with his flood of fines? Not at all.

Mayor Enrico Schilling (44) is very annoyed by the actions of the deputy sheriff, he tells ‘Bild’. “Mr. Matthei has been causing mischief here for years. I’m far from smiling. It is flooding the public order bureau.”

Ads are bad

The problem with Mattheis Bussen’s collection: his advertisements are often inadequate. He does this via an accompanying app, as he demonstrated on “Spiegel TV”. But Schilling now says that “99.9 percent of the ads” were not of the quality to hold up in court. Schilling told ‘Bild’: ‘Maybe something will come from a handful of advertisements.’

He hopes that the young man “with his insular intelligence” will find a more suitable field of work.

What also irritates Schilling is that the young man is causing social unrest. His actions are provocative and he also blocks the emergency services, who would then be missing in an emergency. Legal action against Matthei is now being investigated. The mayor says: “You cannot tolerate such nonsense.” (neo)
