Pile of manure on the street causes injuries – German farmer protests criticized Trump clearly wins the Republican primaries in North Dakota again

The farmers’ protests in Germany have been going on for several weeks. However, on Monday evening the situation escalated: in the state of Brandenburg, demonstrators dumped hundreds of meters of manure and liquid manure on the streets. This could not be seen in the dark – so three vehicles crashed head-on into the obstacles.

According to police, five people were injured and taken to hospital. At the scene of the accident, a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour is permitted.

“Danger to life and limb”

The latest developments worry the police. The protests have “reached a new level”, a spokeswoman told the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. It is a “threat to life and limb”. Research is being conducted into dangerous nuisance to road traffic.

The action is also criticized in agriculture. Brandenburg farmers’ president Henrik Wendorff found clear words: “What has happened now should not happen,” he said in a statement. No one should get hurt during the protests – the latest incident has crossed a line.

The approximately 25 demonstrators responsible for the action initially boasted about the alleged success of their action. They proudly announced that they had succeeded in temporarily barricading access to the capital. When the accidents occurred, the mood of those responsible also changed. “We are very sorry for what happened,” one protester told “RBB 24”. They wanted to stop traffic, which was initially successful. Then trucks drove away and traffic started again.

The farmer protests in Germany are aimed against the federal government. They defend themselves against the supposedly excessive demands that politicians make in agriculture. (dab)
