He sits comfortably on the couch and eats pasta with tomato sauce. There are two dogs next to him. With these and other images, the Lower Saxony police are looking for the RAF terrorist Burkhard Garweg (55). He is seen as an accomplice of RAF terrorist Daniela Klette (65), who was arrested on Monday in an apartment in Berlin.
The 65-year-old had been on the run for more than thirty years. The investigators only discovered the RAF terrorist through a tip. Klette, Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub (62) are said to have committed several robberies together. The Public Prosecution Service has been investigating Garweg since 2015 for attempted murder and several (attempted) robberies between 1999 and 2016.
Burdock and Garweg are said to have had contact
Apparently Garweg and Klette were in contact. The photos, which have now been published by the police, are said to have been found during the raid on the RAF terrorist’s apartment, ‘Bild’ reports. “According to the current findings, it cannot be ruled out that Burkhard Garweg and the alleged robber Daniela Klette had personal and direct contact with each other,” the researchers write about the published images.
They were taken between 2021 and 2024. The most recent photo shows Burkhard Garweg eating pasta. It is unclear whether the dogs are his. But the RAF terrorist can also be seen with the animals in the other photos.
Terrorist apparently supported by the left-wing scene
Because the fleeing criminals could be armed, the LKA Lower Saxony urgently advises citizens not to approach the wanted persons themselves. The fear is justified. Several weapons were found in Klette’s apartment, including a bazooka.
After Klette’s arrest, the Association of German Detectives assumed support for the 65-year-old from left-wing extremists. He considers it “very likely” that Klette “received support from the left-wing extremist spectrum” during her escape that lasted more than thirty years, BDK chairman Dirk Peglow told the Germany editorial network. Without support, Klette “would probably have been arrested sooner.” This also applies to cooking pad and dust. (jmh/AFP)
