This litter proved fatal for the mother of two children.

She grabbed the two-metre-high fir tree, gained a lot of momentum and threw the tree with all her might: A photo shows Kamila G.* (36) from the city of Ennis in Ireland taking part in a Christmas tree throwing competition as part of a charity event.

And it is precisely this snapshot that costs the Irish woman £650,000, the equivalent of 723,000 francs. Because: Because of the photo, G.’s lawsuit against an insurance company was dismissed by the court.

The mother of two was in a car accident in 2017 and said she has suffered from debilitating neck and back pain ever since. This means she can no longer work or even play with her children.

“Claims completely exaggerated”

But apparently the pain during the long-distance throwing competition wasn’t too bad. The photo was taken in January 2018 and published in a newspaper. The reason: G. had actually won the competition at the time. That is why the winning photo of her was printed.

‘I’m afraid I can only conclude that the allegations are completely exaggerated. For this reason I propose that the lawsuit be dismissed,” the judge responsible was quoted by the Irish newspaper “The Independent”.

Incredible: Shortly after winning the long throw, she told a doctor that she could barely lift anything without feeling a shooting pain. Due to the accident and its consequences, she quit her job and received a disability pension.

She was just trying to “live a normal life.”

Her claim against the insurance company related to loss of past and future income, with G. stating that she was temporarily unable to leave her bed for a maximum of half a day. She said her husband had to bring her medicine.

G. denied faking her injuries and told the court she was trying to “live a normal life” and was still in pain even though she looked happy in the photo.

In addition to the photos of the Christmas tree competition, the court also saw a video in which G. trained her dog for over an hour in a park. (ymh)
