Buy a ticket, enter the numbers and hope to win. Lotto draws take place regularly in many European countries. An 87-year-old senior took part in the Italian SuperEnalotto last Tuesday. The winner received a mega jackpot of 64 million euros.
The day after the draw, the 87-year-old went to the newsstand and bought a daily newspaper. He compared the numbers drawn with his card. Sure enough, the numbers in one of his two typed strings matched those in the newspaper.
Then came the nasty surprise: the newspaper had made a big mistake. The editors printed the wrong number order. As a result, the pensioner came away empty-handed. “I was convinced I had become rich,” he told Italian newspaper La Repubblica. Instead, the mistake almost cost him his health. “At my age I almost had a heart attack.” (An)
