Nearly three years ago, a devastating gondola accident occurred on Lake Maggiore.

The accident shocked the whole world on May 23, 2021: a gondola fell 20 meters at the highest point of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car. On this Pentecost Sunday, 14 of the 15 prisoners died. Only one person survived the tragedy: Eitan, who was five years old at the time. Now the Israeli boy is receiving compensation for the accident, as the Kronen Zeitung reports.

The three million euros will be paid by the South Tyrolean cable car company Leitner and the insurance company of the company “Ferrovie del Mottarone”, which operates the cable car in Italy. The lawyer of the now nine-year-old therefore withdraws his application for admission as a civil plaintiff.

Boy now lives with aunt

For a long time, custody of the orphan was a point of contention between the father’s and mother’s sides of the family. The boy now lives with his deceased father’s sister.

Already in January, a mutual agreement on compensation was reached between the accused employees of the Leitner company and the relatives of the victims. The amount was not disclosed. (Unpleasant)
