The crime at the popular fairytale castle Neuschwanstein was shocking: an American raped 21-year-old Eva L., murdered her and pushed her and her friend 50 meters into the depths. He now stands before the Kempten regional court and must answer for his actions.
Kelsey C. survived the crime – and is the most important witness. She is too shaken to appear in court in person and her statements are read out in court. On June 14, 2023, she and Eva L. are lured by Troy B. along a lonely path to a viewpoint near the castle.
“I tried to grab his shirt”
When they get there, they take pictures, Kelsey runs in front. The ‘Bild’ reports what was read in court: ‘Eva shouted ‘Kelsey, call 911’. I turned around and saw him choking Eva. I tried to pull his hand away. The two of us fought back as best we could, kicking and scratching him in the stomach.”
Troy B. pushes Kelsey away, closer and closer to the edge. She says: “I tried to grab his shirt, but it tore – then I fell into the depths.” Upstairs, Troy B. is alone with his victim.
He rapes Eva L., strangles her with a belt and also pushes her into the ravine. Incredibly, the man films everything with his mobile phone and moves the images and videos to an encrypted app after the crime. Child pornography was later found on his mobile phone.
Eva was naked from the waist down
Kelsey cannot remember the fall, wakes up from her unconsciousness after a while and hides out of fear of the killer. According to ‘Bild’ she says: ‘Then I heard how Eva also fell into the depths. She fell right where I had been stopped by a fallen log.
She crawled towards her friend, whose breathing became increasingly shallow and finally stopped. She was naked from the waist down, her T-shirt and bra pushed up. Forensic medicine later determined that Eva L. suffered fatal injuries as a result of being strangulated with the belt and did not die as a result of the fall.
She told a police officer who questioned Kelsey at the hospital, “He couldn’t strangle both of us, so he pushed me there.” It is not yet clear when the verdict against Troy B. will be announced. (neo)
