Two weeks before the congressional election, support for President Joe Biden among US citizens has continued to wane. According to a Reuters/Ipsos survey on Tuesday, Biden only has a 39 percent approval rating.
That is one percentage point less than in the previous week. Respondents called the state of the US economy the most important problem facing the country.
The congressional elections will take place on November 8. The entire House of Representatives and well over a third of the Senate are elected. Biden himself is not on the ballot.
However, if his Democrats lose a majority in just one of the two chambers of Congress, Republicans could make it significantly harder for him to rule until the next presidential election in 2024. 1,005 adults took part in the online poll. (sda/apa/reuters)
