The faces of the protest against the regime in Iran

According to state media, hundreds of people have been charged in connection with the protests in Iran. In the capital Tehran, 315 protesters have to answer to court, the state news agency IRNA announced on Monday.
Four people are also charged with “war against God”. According to the Islamic legal system in Iran, they risk the death penalty. Justice has repeatedly emphasized in recent weeks that it will act mercilessly against the protesters.
The systemic protests in Iran were triggered by the death of 22-year-old Iranian Kurd Mahsa Amini. The moral police had arrested her for not complying with the mandatory rules for wearing a headscarf. The woman died in police custody on September 16.
Since her death, thousands across the country have demonstrated against the government’s repressive course and Islamic rule system. More than 10,000 people have been arrested and at least 240 have been killed, according to human rights activists. (aeg/sda/dpa)
