It was supposed to go from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Detroit (USA), but above England it suddenly said: return! On a Delta Air Lines plane, a passenger got maggots on her head. Another passenger must have brought the creatures onto the plane in his carry-on luggage. Another passenger told Dutch agency ANP that he had seen the stricken woman wiping the maggots off her seat with a piece of paper. “She was very scared,” he reported.
He was sitting right next to the woman when the maggots crawled out. The two immediately notified the crew – they began searching and eventually found the bag, which was full of maggots. Shortly afterwards the pilot decided to turn around and fly back to Amsterdam. The remaining passengers searched everywhere with their cellphone flashlights for more maggots, the passenger said.
The American airline apologizes to guests for the interrupted flight. The machine has been taken out of service for cleaning. The affected guests were also booked on the next available flight.
