According to Russian information, Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny is dead, the 47-year-old was considered a political prisoner and had been in prison camps for years.
He was last seen in January during a video call in which he joked about his prison equipment at the Arctic penal colony where he had been transferred a month earlier. The IK-3 colony, nicknamed ‘Polar Wolf’, is located in the northern city of Charp, about 1,900 kilometers northeast of Moscow.
It is considered one of the toughest prisons in Russia and most of the prisoners held there have been convicted of serious crimes. In a video call with journalists, Navalny appeared to be in good spirits and joked that he had not yet received Christmas mail due to his “fairly long distance.”
