A Catholic youth organization wanted to have a blast in Speyer (D) on Saturday. A carnival celebration was planned in a youth cellar where the “carnival magic” would be celebrated. Minimum age: 14 years, entrance: 5 euros. What could go wrong?
Apparently quite a lot. As “Bild” reports, a 15-year-old was gang-raped during the youth party. The newspaper refers to the public prosecutor’s office in Frankenthal and the police headquarters in Rheinpfalz, which speak of “sexual assault by three young people and adolescents aged 15 and 19 years”.
According to initial investigations, the sexual acts were allegedly performed against the 15-year-old’s will. The teenager has already been examined by a doctor. But the police have not yet been able to question them. It was initially unclear why.
“Let’s ban any form of xenophobic hate speech”
Senior public prosecutor Hubert Ströber also confirmed to ‘Bild’ that an attack took place in the youth cellar of the Catholic Young Community (KJG) St. Joseph. He also explains that the three suspects are a young German-Croatian and two underage Syrians. However, he cannot provide more details at the moment – for ‘research reasons’.
The KJG responded to the accusations via Instagram. A statement also said that “due to ongoing investigations” they cannot yet comment on the “alleged events”. This could “explicitly hinder the research work”.
However, the church organization still emphasizes that a public statement would follow as soon as this was allowed. Finally, the KJG warns: “In the meantime, we prohibit any form of xenophobic and biased agitation.” (Mrs)
