Mai is back, criticizing the traffic lights – and apparently wants to enter politics herself. Actor and BHZ rapper Pablo Grant (26) is dead

With her YouTube channel “MaiLab”, closed last year, she reached an audience of millions: Now the German scientist and journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim is back – apparently she wants to enter politics.

Since she closed her YouTube channel ‘MaiLab’ in April 2023, things have calmed down around Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, who at the same time became a mother for the second time. Although episodes of her ZDF science show “MaiThink X” were still broadcast, there was no activity on her YouTube account for a long time.

Until now. Because on Tuesday morning the 36-year-old reports back – with a video simply called ‘Statement’. The statements in the video will make you sit up and take notice. Nguyen-Kim announces that she wants to get involved in politics in the future.

Mai’s statement is available in full here:

Apparently, Nguyen-Kim is quite dissatisfied with certain developments in German society and politics. According to the German with Vietnamese roots, she is concerned about the future of the country. She criticizes the information and discussion culture that currently prevails in Germany. The public debate is now almost exclusively focused on escalation, emotionalization and blame.

“The climate for discussion is catastrophic. Black and white, not objective, excited, full of false arguments and insults.”

In the video, Nguyen-Kim explains where she sees the causes for this development: in principle, everyone is responsible, both the German government and the opposition, as well as the media and consumers. The 36-year-old mainly complains that this means that the “reasonable majority” no longer has a say and that she is becoming increasingly frustrated. But there is no doubt in her mind that this exists and that the vast majority of people are interested in constructive, solution-oriented and sensible debate and political culture.

In addition to criticism of the discussion culture, the German traffic light government in particular is showing its fat. After the initial euphoria, the traffic light only deals with ‘paralyzing arguments’ and accusations. She accuses top politicians – in particular she mentions Chancellor Olaf Scholz and opposition leader Friedrich Scholz – of failing on two aspects that she considers essential for constructive politics: clear communication and objectivity.

May predicted in 2021 how Corona would “end” – she was almost right:

Apparently, Nguyen-Kim has set himself the goal of contributing to a solution-oriented debate culture in the future. She therefore quotes Napoleon: “If you want something to be good, do it yourself.” She remains convinced that “reason and science are the only therapy against disinformation and populism.”

She has learned a lot in recent months, had honest and in-depth conversations with smart and experienced people and has now built a strong team. She still leaves open why she needs this team – and whether she wants to become active in a party or what her other political activities should look like. But it’s clear something is coming: She’s looking forward to being able to “say more concrete things soon.”

The announcement was well received by her followers. Many are happy that something is happening again on the MaiLab channel and that Nguyen-Kim is once again speaking out as the ‘voice of reason’. There is speculation about the future nature of her political activities, including whether she might form her own party.

However, there are also negative comments that disparage the scientist, especially about
