One dead and injured in gunshots at New York subway station Trump plays for time – and turns to the Supreme Court to postpone the trial

A man was killed by gunfire in a New York subway station on Monday and five other people were injured. According to police, two groups of teenagers were arguing on an arriving train.

A teenager then pulled out a gun and opened fire as passengers boarded and disembarked. The shooter is on the run. The police launched an appeal for witnesses.

The dead man was a 34-year-old man; two women and three men aged between 14 and 71 were injured, police told journalists at a press conference at the affected Mount Eden Avenue metro station. The 34-year-old was initially seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon shortly after 4:30 PM (local time, 10:30 PM CET). The Mount Eden Avenue subway station is located in the northern borough of the Bronx, 9 miles from Times Square in Manhattan. The metro runs above ground there. Television footage taken by a drone showed a stationary train and plainclothes police and investigators. (sda/afp)
