Since Monday it has been announced that the new British Prime Minister will be called Rishi Sunak. Since his only rival, Penny Mordaunt, withdrew her candidacy, he will take over the leadership of the Tories and thus the state government. Sunak succeeds Liz Truss, who resigned after just a few weeks.
In the evening, the 42-year-old gave the first speech to the British people. He thanked Truss for her work and was honored to take on the role, Sunak said before addressing the country’s problems.
“The UK is a great country. But there is no doubt that a great economic challenge awaits us,” said the Prime Minister-elect. Stability and unity are needed now to face it. “This is the only way to ensure a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. insurance,” he explained. He also promised to work “day and night” for the British people.
“I am humbled and honored.”
Rishi Sunak has addressed the British public for the first time since becoming leader of the Conservative Party and will become the next Prime Minister.

In terms of content, there was hardly anything surprising in Sunak’s words. Nevertheless, his appearance has already sparked a lot of reactions on the internet – because of the way he addressed the people. The 42-year-old stared at the teleprompter during his speech and seemed quite tense as he spoke. When he was silent after the end of his speech, he remained motionless for several seconds before leaving the microphones. Sunak received a lot of ridicule online for this appearance.
Say what you will about the Tories, but replacing Liz Truss with a text-to-speech AI is very progressive. https://t.co/uHLXHaYdZA

On the evidence of Rishi Sunak’s speech, he is actually Liz Truss in disguise.

Pretty sure Sunak is some kind of robotic AI that they just rolled out, pressed the premier mode button and hoped for the best.

The next big performance is already waiting for Sunak on Tuesday. Tomorrow morning the Prime Minister will be formally appointed before giving his first major speech as the new incumbent on Downing Street. (dab)
