Several ships rammed a lake boat near Köhlbrand on the Elbe on Wednesday. There is a lot of traffic on the river. According to “Bild”, the police were informed around 6 p.m. The lake boat sank and the skipper disappeared. The mooring boat is used to transport tow lines between cargo ships. A dangerous job that actually requires two people.
The captain wanted to cross the river to pick up a colleague. But then the accident happened: the boat was rammed by a towing group consisting of several ships – and sank immediately. The captain of the ship also fell overboard.
Five divers searched the bottom of the Elbe. But so far there is no trace of the captain. The emergency transmitter on board ensures that the exact location of the mooring boat can be determined.
