Authorities have discovered 117 dead cats on an old man’s property in southern France. Following a tip from animal rights activists, police officers found numerous cat bodies buried under roof tiles in the garden and others in a shed in a freezer, the prefecture in Nice announced on Wednesday.
Nearly 30 live cats and kittens were in poor condition. An investigation has been launched against the resident of the house in the town of La Roquette-sur-Siagne in the hinterland of Cannes. He was taken into police custody, according to broadcaster France 3. Already in 2019 and 2021, animal rights activists who spoke of a “horror house” intervened with the cat owner. He is said to have psychological problems. (SDA)
