Shortly before Carnival, the Brazilian city declared a state of emergency.

Actually, Carnival should start in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in six days. But now the town hall has declared a state of emergency due to a dengue fever crisis.

In January alone, 676 hospital admissions were recorded in the Brazilian city, as ‘Itatiaia’ reports. More than 11,000 people are said to be infected with the virus.

An emergency plan is being drawn up to contain the spread. Accordingly, ten service centers will be opened to care for patients. An emergency operations center will also be opened, which will be responsible for planning, monitoring and organizing measures. Beds for dengue patients must also be made available in hospitals.
