Several shoes belonging to basketball legend Michael Jordan were auctioned for a record amount of eight million dollars (about 7.4 million euros). It is the highest amount ever paid for worn-out sports shoes. Special sneakers have repeatedly made headlines at auctions because they fetched high prices.

For example, in October 2021, Sotheby’s auctioned a pair of Jordan sneakers that the ex-Chicago Bulls star wore in his first NBA season in 1984-85 for approximately $1.5 million. In 2022, a sweater from Jordan, now 60, raised more than ten million dollars.
