Back in a Scottish park: escaped monkey fed peanuts

The animal escaped from the zoo in the Scottish Highlands on Sunday. Attempts to catch him failed for days.

“Honshu has been carefully monitored by our vets and zookeepers and is doing very well,” David Field, head of zoo operator Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), said in a statement on Friday.

“He doesn’t appear to have lost any weight and appears to have eaten quite a few peanuts over the past five days.” Honshu is now slowly starting to get used to the other immature males within the group.

The animal escaped from the zoo in the Scottish Highlands on Sunday. Attempts to catch him failed for days. Residents were happy when they saw the monkey in their garden. The local press had dubbed the animal ‘Kingussie Kong’ – after the town of Kingussie near the Highlands Wildlife Park. (SDA)
