A teenager fell from a chairlift in the United States on Saturday.

Most skiing accidents happen on the slopes, not while riding the lift. Things are different for a snowboarder (16) from the US. She plunged uncontrollably into the depths at the Mammoth Mountain ski resort in California. And that even though there were helpers on site.

A video of the accident was posted on social media. The photo was taken by skiers sitting in the backseat of the Stump Alley Express lift. The video shows the youngster clinging to the stationary elevator as people with a net gather below her. According to the witness who recorded the video, they were members of the ski patrol.

Then the girl suddenly falls down. But instead of being caught by the net, he ends up in the snow almost uncontrollably. The dull thud is audible. One of the people in the back seat says in shock, “Oh my God, did she just miss the net?”

“Far too little experience for the situation”

The witness is disappointed with the ski patrol: “They abandoned this girl today because they made a complete mistake in their attempt to catch her with the net. And that was after they convinced her that everything was fine and that she should let go!

The eyewitness also reports that the track workers said they had never performed such a “rescue operation” before. «They said they had far too little experience for this situation! Mammoet must do better!”

But not everyone shares this opinion. Under the Instagram post, a person who was also in the department commented, “The Mammoth Ski Patrol and volunteers did an excellent job and arrived in time to capture the individual. Not the ski area’s fault at all.”

Young people have to go to the hospital

The ski area also denies guilt. A statement said the youngster “did not sit down completely for unknown reasons.” That’s why she slowly slid off the chair when the elevator started moving.

When the lift was shut down, five ski area employees and eight guests quickly came to help. They responded immediately and placed the net under the snowboarder. When she finally dropped, she landed in the net, according to the ski area. However, this only slowed the fall and did not stop it.

The teenager was reportedly taken to a hospital for examination after the accident. Her injuries are unclear. “Our thoughts are with the guest and her family.” (Mrs)
