Justin M.* (32) is said to have murdered his father Michael M.* (†68) in the American state of Pennsylvania and then posted a brutal video showing the victim’s severed head on the internet.
According to a statement from the responsible law enforcement agency, the crime took place on Tuesday evening (local time) in the city of Levittown, about a 40-minute drive from Philadelphia. Police arrested the 32-year-old suspect early Wednesday morning (local time).
US media reported that the 14-minute video was available on YouTube for hours and was viewed more than 5,000 times before it was removed from the online platform. The alleged perpetrator is supposed to hold up a clear plastic bag that apparently contains a severed head. The uniformed officers found a machete and a large kitchen knife in the bathtub.
Called for insurrection against Biden
The man identified himself by his full name, repeated conspiracy theories from the right-wing spectrum and called his father a “traitor” because he worked as a government official.
According to reports, he made threats against several US federal agencies and US immigration policy – and called for an insurrection against US President Joe Biden. The man said in the video that he killed his father because of Biden’s policies.
According to the police, the video played a role in the search for the suspected perpetrator. After his arrest, he was charged with, among other things, murder and desecration of corpses. (kes/SDA)
