The Mediterranean Sea continues to wash up bodies in the Turkish holiday region of Antalya: in six days, eight dead bodies were discovered on different beaches! Some bodies are mutilated.
After several bodies were found last week, two dead people were discovered on a beach on Monday, DHA news agency reported. The identification could not yet be carried out.
Hotel employees make gruesome discovery
On Sunday, employees of a five-star hotel in Aksu found the dead body of a young man. At the same time, there was a report that a body was found in front of a hotel in Kizilot.
The day before, the sea had washed up a body in Manavgat and Serik. The bodies of a child and an adult had previously been discovered on the beaches of Alanya.
Missing 18 year olds among them?
Serik’s dead wife is a young woman. The suspicion: it could be an 18-year-old who has been missing for about two weeks. Her family therefore traveled from Istanbul for a DNA test.
Five of the dead could be migrants who drowned. Their clothes and shoes are made in Syria, the governor’s office said.
Difficult identification
Identification is probably not possible in all cases; the decomposition of the corpses is sometimes too far advanced. Authorities say they may have been eaten by fish. Sometimes it looks like limbs have been chopped off.
The dead migrants could have had an accident on a refugee boat in December 2023: On December 11, the Lebanese embassy in Ankara reported that a boat with 90 migrants on board had sunk. So it came from Syria or Lebanon and had to take the prisoners to the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean. (no)
