Police are looking for suspected shooter Romeo N.

Police in Joliet, Illinois, are hunting 23-year-old Romeo N.*: He is said to have shot a total of eight people and has been on the run ever since.

Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans told reporters that the victims were related. “I have been a police officer for 29 years. This is probably the worst crime scene I’ve ever been involved in,” Evans said.

Seven bodies alone were found Monday afternoon at two different crime scenes in Joliet, near Chicago, and all had gunshot wounds, police said.

Man found with gunshot wounds

Investigators believe the crimes are related and that the alleged shooter knew his victims. On Sunday, a man was found with gunshot wounds at another location in the same neighborhood, who later died from his injuries.

The investigators suspect that this crime was also committed by Romeo N. – although much is still unclear. Police in Joliet initially withheld details, citing the ongoing investigation.

The police assume that Romeo N. drives a red Toyota Camry. A possible motive is completely unclear. (SDA/neo)
