It was slippery in parts of German-speaking Switzerland on Wednesday morning. Precipitation at temperatures below zero caused this.
It will be a quiet morning, with freezing rain in many places – be careful! During the day it remains gray, but as the southwest wind develops it becomes significantly milder and the snow line rises to 2000 meters.

The federal government even warned of the danger of icy conditions: anyone driving a car was urged to drive carefully. The canton of Schaffhausen and the regions around Aarau, Frauenfeld TG, Liestal BL, Lucerne, Solothurn, St.Gallen and Zug were particularly affected.
The situation in Switzerland should have eased since 8 a.m.
Situation in Germany
In-person classes are canceled today at many schools in Bavaria – the German Weather Service (DWD) expects freezing rain and warns of freezing rain.
The slippery conditions also have consequences in Berlin and Brandenburg: several flights are canceled at Berlin’s BER airport. About twenty flights to and from Frankfurt were cancelled. Deutsche Bahn, in turn, stated that the ice could also have consequences for train traffic.
At least 100 accidents occurred in Brandenburg on Tuesday due to slippery conditions. Several people were also injured.
