A daycare center in Kerpen, Germany wants to set up masturbation rooms. There is a concept of sex education behind this.

Hardly anyone can guess the context in which the words “doctor games” and “rooms for masturbation” appear. The conditions are part of the sex education concept of a daycare center in Kerpen-Türnich in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

“Doctor games” and “rooms for masturbation” should be allowed in the Catholic daycare center, reports the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”. This is not well received by everyone – for example the Alternative for Germany (AfD). The Kerpen government and the state parliament are now also dealing with the issue.

“To discover and satisfy yourself”

As the concept shows, the daycare center is “in no way” about sex education. Instead, doctor games, for example, are intended to “create the freedom for children to explore their sexuality.”

Although the daycare center makes it sound quite innocent, the following words can also be found in the concept of the daycare center: “Individual children are allowed to retreat to a protected space as needed to physically discover and satisfy themselves.”

This is especially important because under no circumstances should a child learn not to touch themselves “down there.” “Because the child learns: there is something about my body that is wrong, not good and somehow indecent or disgusting,” the daycare center says.

Informal caregivers can intervene

After all, the concept apparently specifies when healthcare providers should intervene. This is the case, among other things, when older, younger children encourage “doctor games” or when adult sexuality practices are practiced. It is unclear exactly what such practices entail.

As the report states, the concept has now been removed from the website.

In the meantime, the state youth care agency has even become involved. In addition, daycare centers and the Kerpen Youth Care Office were also informed about the concept. However, upon the newspaper’s request, no responsible authority would comment on the matter. (dzc)
