A 30-year-old died in hospital the day after his violent arrest in a Paris suburb. The Bobigny public prosecutor’s office said on Friday that the man was hit about ten times by a stun gun. According to initial investigations, a supermarket owner called the police because the man was aggressive.
A first unit then requested reinforcement. Ultimately, eighteen security forces were involved in the arrest, six of whom used their stun guns. The man bit a police officer’s finger and kicked him in the face, Le Parisien newspaper reported.
Investigators said that as a result of his arrest, the man went into cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital in a coma. Accordingly, two investigations have been launched, one into the use of electroshock weapons and one into violence and death threats against police officers. (AFP)
