On November 30, Mia Shem was released from Hamas hostage after 55 days.

“It was a split-second decision whether to stay where I was and burn or go with him,” Mia Schem, 21, recalled on October 7, when Hamas terrorists turned a music festival into a bloodbath. changed and took a young woman hostage. She tells the Israeli television channel Channel 13 about her time in captivity.

Sem was locked in a dark room for 55 days. He was not allowed to speak, be seen or heard. “There is a terrorist who stares at you 24 hours a day and rapes you with his eyes,” says the Israeli. “My biggest fear was being raped.” So she decided to talk to her kidnapper as a friend. Suddenly he told her about problems with his wife.

His wife stood outside the room with the children. “That was the only reason he didn’t rape me,” Schem says. As soon as the woman entered the room, the 21-year-old wanted a hug from her. But like her husband, his wife kept glaring at her.

Schem knew she had no choice but to accept the situation. “It is what it is, deal with it,” she told herself. “You will return home soon.” In fact, the Israeli was released on November 30. But despite her great relief, she feels guilty – towards the hostages still in captivity.

Hamas is still holding more than a hundred hostages

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry I’m leaving,” Schem apologizes to those who stayed behind. “You come out and feel guilty because there are people who stay there and say to you, ‘Mia, please, please, we don’t want to be forgotten,’” she says with tears in her eyes. That’s why, to this day, she hasn’t quite managed to return home. She cannot accept that there are other people. “And I know what it’s like to be there,” says Schem.

On October 7, more than 240 people were kidnapped by Hamas. A total of 105 hostages were recently released as part of an agreement. In return, Israel released 240 Palestinian prisoners. According to Israeli information, 138 hostages are still being held in the Gaza Strip. (gs)
