According to local media reports, an assassination attempt on a Swiss man (50) was prevented in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. A woman named Antoinette U.* (43) and her brother have been arrested, local media report.
According to the current findings of the police, U. is said to be from Rwanda and has known the man for some time. However, it is not known whether the two were in a relationship.
According to investigators, Antoinette U. rented an apartment under a false name. The murder would take place there. To do this, the woman hired a group of hitmen on December 29 to kill the man a day later. What she didn’t know was that the killers were undercover agents. Authorities had previously received an anonymous tip.
850,000 euros in loot
“The team met the woman on December 30 and was told that the foreigner had 850,000 euros. “She told them that the foreigner had to transfer all the money to her account before he was killed,” Rwandan New Times quoted the police report as saying.
The undercover agents, disguised as hitmen, eventually agreed to the job. Under the condition that the 850,000 euros are divided equally. She then asked the undercover officers for help in obtaining a fake ID so she could rent the apartment.
Antoinette U. is a repeat offender
Antoinette U. then traveled to the apartment with her brother, took over and prepared everything for the murder. According to the police, the two not only had several swords with them, but also a can of acid. This was intended to dispose of the body after the murder.
When U. finally lured the man into the apartment under the pretext of a dinner party, the trap was sprung. Several officers arrested the 43-year-old and her brother. Both were housed in a nearby police station and are now awaiting trial.
According to the Kahawatungu portal, Antoinette U. is a repeat offender. She was sentenced to life in prison in 2018 for allegedly killing one of her lover’s mistresses. However, after appeal she was released because her guilt could not be 100% proven.
