The burning passenger plane
A passenger plane caught fire while landing at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. An explosive fireball was seen as Japan Airlines (JAL) Flight 516 skidded down the runway. There were 367 passengers and twelve crew members on board, Reuters reports.
The plane was said to be en route from New Chitose to Haneda. According to media reports, the passenger plane caught fire at 5:47 p.m. local time (9:47 a.m. Swiss time).

On Tuesday evening (local time), live images from the Japanese television channel TBS showed passengers leaving the plane via an emergency slide while the fire was extinguished. All passengers could have left the plane said Reuters. It is not yet known whether there have been any injuries.
The aircraft was severely damaged. Video footage shows the plane breaking in two. The firefighting work is still in full swing.

Five killed in coast guard plane
The passenger plane collided with a Japanese Coast Guard plane while landing at Tokyo airport, Japanese media reported, citing the Ministry of Transport. The collision killed five people aboard the Japanese Coast Guard aircraft. Only the pilot managed to escape injured.
Kyodo news agency, citing the Tokyo Fire Department, reported that the coast guard plane was also on fire.
As the television channel TBS reported, the Coast Guard plane wanted to leave Bring material to the earthquake zone on the west coast of the country. At least 48 people have been killed there in a series of earthquakes since New Year’s Day.
