A surfer was attacked by a shark off the coast of the Hawaiian island of Maui and died from his serious injuries. The attack on the 39-year-old took place on Saturday morning, Maui police announced on Sunday (local time). When officers arrived, the man was taken to shore on a jet ski.
“Once he reached land, life-saving measures were administered until he could be transported to a hospital,” police said. However, he succumbed to his injuries there. Authorities have cordoned off the beach and posted signs warning of shark attacks.
According to news portal Hawaii News Now, the incident was the first fatal shark attack in Hawaiian waters in 2023. (AFP)
