Video shows gigantic wave that injured eight people in California. Behind door 15 of the Advent calendar, your Christmas knowledge is needed

The California coast is currently being hit by huge waves. The reason for this is the storms currently raging in the Pacific Ocean. In the city of Ventura, a wave of violence out of nowhere on December 28 took countless hikers by surprise. About 20 people were swept away and 8 of them were injured. The incident was captured on video from multiple angles. You can see for yourself here:

The city of Santa Cruz was also hit by heavy waves. Cleaning work is already underway, but the extent of the damage is still unclear. On several parts of the coast, streets, houses and beach restaurants are flooded.

More waves are expected for the weekend

In Santa Cruz and Ventura, parts of the beach had to be closed, and in Ventura the pier also had to be closed. Authorities are urging people to avoid beaches and continue to warn of dangerous waves that could reach heights of up to 40 feet. As a precaution, roads and access to the sea were closed. The American National Weather Service even spoke of deadly conditions.

However, the eight injured people in Ventura, some of whom were washed away by the wave almost 50 meters down the street, escaped with minor injuries and were taken to hospital and treated. (lso)
