Trump should be happy. An arch-Christian organization has appealed the Colorado vote.

New development in the legal voting dispute over former US President Donald Trump (77): An appeal has been filed against the ruling of the Supreme Court of the US state of Colorado that Trump is not fit for the office of president.

The American Center for Law and Justice says it is challenging the decision on behalf of the Republican Party of Colorado. The court’s decision was ‘wrong’, according to the application dated Wednesday evening (local time). “Unless the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision is overturned, every voter has the opportunity to challenge the disqualification of a political candidate.”

Trump opponents have only had success in Colorado

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled last week that Trump was unfit to serve as president due to his role in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and therefore could not participate in the primaries. Trump wants to return to the White House for the Republicans after the 2024 presidential elections. His opponents are trying to have Trump’s name removed from presidential election ballots in several states. They argue for a constitutional amendment that would exclude people from elections who incited an ‘uprising’ against the constitution. So far, they’ve only had success in Colorado.

Trump had announced he would appeal the Colorado verdict, but has not yet filed one. The Colorado Supreme Court itself has stayed its decision until the issue is finally resolved on appeal. Trump’s name will likely be on the ballot for his party’s primary in the state early next year. (SDA)
