The images of the party have dominated headlines in Russia for days. Xenia Sobchak (r.) also published an apology.

They cringe and beg for forgiveness: several famous personalities in Russia have published videos on their social media channels claiming that they knew nothing in advance.

Before means: before the party in the Moscow nightclub Mutabor, to which the blogger and TV presenter Nastya Ivleeva invited on December 20. Motto: “Almost naked”! Moscow’s rich and famous were invited: influencers, TV personalities, rappers.

And they stuck to the motto and did not seem particularly modest: the rapper Vacio – Nikolai Wassiljew – appeared completely naked. Only one sock half-heartedly covered his private area. Other guests mainly wore see-through tops or pants.

Images reached soldiers at the front

The party was private, but of course the celebrities were busy taking photos and videos and soon the rest of Russia stormed. The images reached the soldiers at the front, who then complained to their superiors.

According to the BBC, pro-Kremlin bloggers, parliamentarians and activists who support the war in Ukraine were also angry: how could celebrities celebrate this way when Russian soldiers lost their lives during the ‘special military operation’, as the war in Russia is called named? betting game?

Jail time and fines for rappers

It wasn’t just outrage. Police arrested the sock-wearing rapper Vacio, jailed him for fifteen days and imposed a fine of more than 1,800 francs. Reason: “advertising for non-traditional sexual relationships”.

The organizer, Nastya Ivleeva, who celebrated the party in a bra and expensive jewelry, is also threatened with legal trouble. According to the BBC, a class action lawsuit was filed against them with a demand to donate a billion rubles (over 9 million francs) to the organization ‘Defenders of the Fatherland’.

The party also has consequences behind the scenes. Apparently advertising contracts have already been canceled and concerts cancelled. Iwleewa, actually the face of a mobile phone provider, has already been removed from all advertisements. And according to the Pravda portal, some stars have already been removed from the pre-recorded TV New Year’s Eve shows.

“I am ready for my public execution”

One person now cringing is star Philipp Kirkorow: “I admit I made a mistake. The last thing I want is that such an event, my fault, leads to restrictions on my career in Russia, the only country where I exist as an artist and as a citizen.” The singer even apologized to Kremlin spokesman Dimitr Peskov.

Others defend their participation: Pop star Dima Bilan says, according to the BBC: “I wore a turtleneck, a big jacket, trousers and shoes. I couldn’t have known in advance what the other guests would wear.”

Meanwhile, Nastya Ivleewa, who is now under investigation by the tax authorities, is persona non grata. In a video message she pleads: “They say Russia knows how to forgive. If so, I would like to ask you, the people, for a second chance. If the answer is no, I am ready for my public execution.” (neo)
