Police in the US are investigating threats against the responsible judges after an explosive verdict against former US President Donald Trump in the state of Colorado. “The FBI is aware of the situation and is working with local law enforcement authorities,” CNN quoted a statement from the FBI as saying. A Denver police spokesperson told Axios they were investigating incidents targeting Colorado Supreme Court justices. The police are carrying out “extra patrols around the judges’ homes”.

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled last week that Trump was unfit to serve as president due to his role in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Therefore, his name should not appear on ballots in the state. The last word has not yet been spoken here. The case will likely end up before the Supreme Court in Washington. For Trump and his supporters, the decision was a major defeat.

Trump wants to return to the White House for the Republicans after the 2024 presidential elections. But the 77-year-old has to fight on several legal fronts. He will likely face four criminal trials this election year, for example over his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He lost to Democrat Joe Biden at the time, but to this day does not acknowledge his defeat and spreads the lie about election fraud.

The Republican used the Christmas season to post a series of hateful messages on the platform he co-founded, Truth Social. He denounced the Biden administration and the judiciary, writing about “criminals” in his own country who wanted to destroy the US with open borders, inflation, a lack of energy independence or the “electric car craze.” ‘May they rot in hell. “Once again: Merry Christmas!” he added in capital letters.
