Christmas parcels of a different kind: Several parcels believed to be filled with cocaine have washed up on beaches in south-eastern Australia.

A total of seven packages covered in barnacles have been found since Friday evening on beaches between metropolitan Sydney and the city of Newcastle, about 100 kilometers further north, New South Wales state police said on Sunday.

Police warning

Preliminary investigation showed that it contained cocaine. It was said that an extensive search had been conducted in the area in recent days. Police warned the public not to touch or open the packages.
