Actress Ingrid Steeger has died at the age of 76, it was confirmed to the German press agency on Friday evening from Steeger’s private environment. According to information from “Bild”, the actress died on Friday in a hospital in Bad Hersfeld in Hesse – the dpa initially had no confirmation of its own.
Steeger conquered the audience in the 1970s as the cheeky blonde from the ARD comedy ‘Klimbim’. The series made “Ulknudel” one of the most famous TV faces in Germany. She received the Adolf Grimme Prize for her role as the blond-braided daughter Gaby of the chaotic ‘Klimbim’ family.
After Jobs, Steeger’s career as a model started with the legendary ‘Schoolgirl Report’ in the cinema. Later she got roles in crime series such as ‘The Inspector’ and ‘Derrick’ and worked with greats such as Curd Jürgens, Harald Juhnke and Horst Tappert. She starred with Iris Berben in the series “Two Heavenly Daughters”. She also appeared in the four-part series ‘The Big Bellheim’ in the 1990s.
Steeger later devoted himself more to the theater. She was mainly on stage with gossip pieces, such as ‘Jackpot’ in the comedy Kassel. She celebrated success at various locations alongside Jochen Busse and Simone Rethel with the comedy “Der Kurshadowmann”.
It had become quiet around Steeger lately. During rehearsals for the Bad Hersfeld Festival in May 2019, she appeared impressed. People around her increasingly said she needed a break.
She was born on April 1, 1947 in Berlin. (sda/dpa)
