An archive image of the Eurotunnel: many trains are currently canceled due to strikes.

“Due to an unexpected strike by Eurotunnel employees, we have had to cancel most of our planned trips for today,” the operator said on its website.

The trains connect London with Paris or Brussels. The LeShuttle car train, which runs from Calais in France to Folkestone in England, was also initially unable to run. According to the British news agency PA, thousands of people have been affected.

French media reported that the strike was over a special bonus. The employees therefore wanted to triple the bonus. The French Deputy Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, wrote on X that the blockade of the tunnel was unacceptable. He makes every effort to ensure that a solution is found immediately.
