Brianna Ghey (†16) was murdered for no reason by two teenagers.

A jury convicted a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, who were not named because of their ages, after a four-week trial in Manchester. A date for the announcement of the verdict has not yet been set.

Judge Amanda Yip warned the two that she would have to ‘impose a life sentence’. The murder of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey caused horror and sympathy.

The teens stabbed her 28 times

Ghey, who grew up as a boy and lived as a girl, was stabbed to death in Warrington in northwest England in February. She was stabbed 28 times in the head, neck, back and chest. Her body was found in a park.

The trial discussed how the two young people talked about Ghey’s murder in the days and weeks before the crime. The suspect downloaded an app that allowed her to watch videos of real people being tortured and murdered.

Dark fantasies about murder

The girl became interested in serial killers, made notes about their methods and said she had “dark fantasies” about murders and torture.

Before the crime, they became friends with Ghey. At the same time, they urged each other to action. The defendant wrote before the horror: “I want to see if it screams like a man or a girl. In another message he describes the 16-year-old as “unnatural”.

The police have assessed the messages the two sent each other. One researcher told the BBC: “Not many of us have ever seen such baseness and inhumanity. And just this desire to kill in two fifteen-year-olds was really disturbing.”

They had a kill list

Both created a ‘kill list’ of four other young people they wanted to harm. Ghey later befriended the teen, who prosecutors say became “obsessed” with her.

After the verdict, a prosecutor said the case was “one of the most terrifying” she had ever dealt with. “The planning, the violence and the age of the killers are unbelievable.” (AFP)
