Jeffrey Epstein and his assistant Ghislaine Maxwell abused several girls.

In her decision announced Tuesday, Judge Loretta Preska of the Federal Court in Manhattan ordered the court to “fully” reveal the identities of the 180 affected people by January 1 or 2. They include Epstein’s victims, employees, business partners and alleged accomplices.

According to British media, the judge’s order on Monday is related to a 2016 defamation lawsuit filed by US prosecutor Virginia Giuffre against Epstein’s ex-lover and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.

Many people have already identified themselves

The case was settled the following year, but the Miami Herald took legal action to gain access to the files and investigate the Epstein network. At the time, the names on the list all had only numbers and the pseudonym “Doe.”

Judge Preska now argued that many of the individuals named had already been quoted in the media in recent years or could be easily identified through interviews.

Maxwell is in custody

Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty in December 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison in June 2022. According to the court’s opinion, as a confidante and ex-girlfriend of Epstein, she had recruited underage girls and young women for sexual abuse by the well-connected financial investor for years. Some girls were also passed on to other men.

Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while in custody awaiting trial. The authorities assume suicide. The billionaire had many high-ranking friends and acquaintances, including celebrities such as the family of former US president Bill Clinton, real estate entrepreneur and later US president Donald Trump and the British Prince Andrew.
