Edwin Castro (31) has cracked the largest Powerball jackpot in American history, worth two billion dollars. After deducting other winners and California’s public school system, the lucky person pocketed a whopping $997 million. He has been enjoying his million dollar winnings ever since.
Within a few months, Castro bought three villas in Los Angeles. He paid a total of approximately $76 million for this. It is said that he gave one of the houses to his parents. It’s a four million dollar property in his hometown of Altadena, California.
But the almost billionaire also wastes his money on cars. He has a special passion for classic cars. He has already bought at least seven luxury cars. Including three Porsches, three Volkswagens and a Ram pickup.
He invited friends to Fiji
As the New York Post reports, the first thing the lucky winner did with his money was take a vacation. Even before the public was informed of his identity, Castro invited his closest friends to Fiji.
He had a good time on the paradise island. Photos on social media show him drinking from a coconut, holding a giant fish and partying with his friends at the luxurious bar “Cloud 9” – a floating party oasis.
The two-story island bar is so exclusive that it can only be accessed by boat, seaplane or jet ski. It is located west of the island of Viti Levu, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. According to Cloud 9’s website, the bar is a “renowned meeting place for artists, underground musicians, lovers, dreamers and fun seekers from all over the world.”
Brother helps manage the assets
After his dream holiday, things got serious for the architect. He hired two bodyguards for himself and his family. To protect against thieves, robbers and jealous people. And there are also legal problems. Because: He is accused of stealing the lottery ticket in order to win big. If found guilty, he could even face jail time. But the lottery authority is convinced that Castro is the rightful winner. It has passed a series of rigorous tests.
The happy man lives in luxury. But he still seems to be keeping a cool head and doesn’t want to waste all his money. His brother Jesse Castro, 27, who works as a banker, helps him manage the lottery winnings. (Mrs)
