German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) has called for special precautions to protect against corona infections in the run-up to Christmas. “Corona remains dangerous. It is not a cold that you can safely catch every season,” Lauterbach told Bild am Sonntag about the current Corona wave. “On the contrary, Corona often also damages the blood vessels or weakens the immune system, and is therefore far too often not completely curable.”
Lauterbach called on people to “get vaccinated as soon as possible in the coming days – ideally against flu and corona at the same time.” On buses and trains, everyone should “wear a face mask again,” the minister said. He also recommends avoiding indoor Christmas parties. Those who have the option should stay in their home offices and not work in the office, Lauterbach added. He also advised “if in doubt” a rapid corona test “before we meet older, sick people”. (AFP)
