After Bautzen court revoked a man’s driver’s license for driving under the influence, the 49-year-old got into a car and sped away. A police officer saw this when he left the courthouse and gave chase on foot, the police in Görlitz announced on Thursday.

Officials stopped the newly convicted man in his car on the street a short time later. The man had not only violated his recently suspended driver’s license. A breath alcohol test also showed a value of 2.38 per mille. The police confiscated the car key.

In addition to the fine already imposed by the court plus a nine-month driver’s license suspension, the 49-year-old now faced a new charge of driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol. (AFP)
