Major General Vladimir Zawadsky died in Ukraine.

Russian Major General Vladimir Zawadsky is dead. The deputy commander of an army corps was killed in an accident with his own landmine in Ukraine, Ukrainian and Russian sources agree.

According to graduates of the Higher Combined Arms Command School in Moscow, the accident happened on Tuesday. Sawadski was deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps.

The incident in Izyum, in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson, also killed several senior Russian soldiers and police officers.

According to the Telegram channel VChK-OGPU, which is said to have ties with Russian security services, Sadawski was killed in a mine explosion behind the front. Apparently this mine was laid by Russian soldiers to combat Ukrainian reconnaissance units.

Russia has already lost its seventh general

The channel continues: “It is also being investigated whether the death of General Zawadski was due to an artillery attack by the Ukrainian forces.”

Units of the 14th Army Corps, which is subordinate to the Russian Northern Fleet, fought on the flanks of the city of Bakhmut in the summer.

Sawadski served, among other things, as deputy commander of a tank regiment and chief of staff of a motorized rifle brigade. From 2018 to 2021 he commanded the 4th Guards Tank Division.

With him, Russia has already lost its seventh general. So far, the Kremlin has confirmed only six fallen generals. A total of twelve senior officers of the Russian army have now been killed in Ukraine. (neo)
