A publisher in the Netherlands has discontinued a new book about the British royal family. The British news agency PA reported on Wednesday evening that the local translation of Omid Scobie’s ‘Endgame’ should be withdrawn from sale for the time being. Publisher Xander Uitgevers writes on his website that an error has occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being corrected.
According to media reports, in the version It mentioned the name of a royal, who accused Duchess Meghan of speculating with Prince Harry about the skin color of her children before the birth of their son Archie.
According to PA, author Scobie emphasized that unfortunately he does not speak Dutch and has not seen the publication, but that if there were translation errors he was confident that the publisher had it under control. “I edited and wrote the English version, there was never a version I produced that had names in it,” Scobies said on Dutch television.
Scobie’s book, subtitled ‘Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival’, was published in Britain on Tuesday. Scobie had already written about Prince Harry and Meghan three years ago – he is said to have good relations with the couple. According to PA, both Buckingham and Kensington Palace declined to comment on the book. (sda/dpa)
