Knife attack in Dublin: three children injured. Armistice starts Friday at 6 a.m. +++ 190 people evacuated from Schifa hospital

Five people, including three children, were injured in a suspected knife attack in the Irish capital Dublin. A suspect has been arrested, Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said on Thursday.

According to police, a girl and a woman were seriously injured in the incident. The other two children and a man were treated in hospital for minor injuries. It was initially unclear whether the slightly injured man was the suspected perpetrator. The ages of the children were also not known.

Prime Minister Varadkar was shocked. He thanked rescuers who rushed to the scene. The alleged attack took place shortly before 2 p.m. (local time, 3 p.m. CET) in Parnell Square East in the center of the Irish capital. Initially, the authority had only confirmed that it was an ongoing operation, during which it was supported by rescue workers.
