The Federal Council approves the export of 25 battle tanks to Germany. On Black Friday, cell phone plan prices drop – one plan is better than them all

25 Leopard 2 A4 main battle tanks can be exported to Germany. The Federal Council gave the green light for this on Wednesday. He writes that Germany has guaranteed that the tanks sold will not go to Ukraine.

The Leopard tanks therefore go to the original manufacturer, Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH. These will then remain in Germany or with NATO or EU partners to close their own gaps, as shown by the Federal Council’s announcement. The battle tanks will not be forwarded to Ukraine.

As part of the Army Message 2023, Parliament approved the dismantling of the 25 87 Leopard main battle tanks, provided they are sold back to the manufacturer. Following this decision and in accordance with the provisions of the War Materials Act, the Federal Armaments Agency (Armasuisse) has submitted an application to the federal government for a license to export the 25 tanks.
