Germany supplies buyers of explosives – they probably planned an attack in Switzerland Despite the bounty shock – the health lobby besieges the Commission and demands: do nothing!

In June, German judicial authorities in Stuttgart arrested two Swiss people who bought explosives. Now they are being extradited – the federal prosecutor’s office is investigating, among other things, violent crimes.
The German police struck.

“Has Switzerland escaped an attack?” The Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) investigative team investigated this question after two Swiss citizens were arrested in Stuttgart (D) in June this year for buying highly effective, banned explosives.

The German investigators spoke of the suspicion of “arranging an explosion crime” – they would have prevented such a crime in a Swiss city, the SRF is quoted as saying.

Ideological motivation is excluded

Now, about four months later, the two arrested, aged 24 and 26, are being extradited to Switzerland. And the investigation by SRF together with the German Südwestrundfunk (SWR) has now shown that the target of such an explosive crime should be Basel – that is where the suspects come from.

The fact that the facts of the case were planned on Swiss soil is confirmed by the fact that the Swiss Attorney General is now investigating whether the procedure should be taken over from the German authorities and continued here.

Little is known about the motive of the two suspects, but a political or ideological motivation can be ruled out, the SRF writes. The federal prosecutor’s office has opened criminal proceedings, one of the offenses being prosecuted relates to Article 260sexies of the Criminal Code – ie supporting violent crimes that intimidate the population.

Is there a connection with the explosion in March?

Keyword population: SRF spoke to people close to the two arrested. They paint a picture of two young men who have sunk deeper and deeper into crime in recent years.

At least one of the two would have become violent several times and also suspected of drug offences. The older of the two is said to have been interested in buying a strip club early this year.

A possible connection with an explosion in Basel in March will also be clarified, according to the SRF. At that time, an explosive device was detonated in the Bruderholz district, but the background is (still) unclear. (mhe/chmedia)
