Slovak police: Right-wing assassin wanted to kill Prime Minister Heger US judge: Trump gave court false information about election fraud

Edward Heger

According to new police findings, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger was the original target of a right-wing killer who shot two people dead last week in an assassination attempt at a gay bar in Bratislava.

Police chief Stefan Hamran announced this on TV Joj on Tuesday evening. On the evening of October 12, 19-year-old Heger approached several times with a gun. Because the conservative politician was not at home, he went to the pub in the inner city, which he had also had on his list of possible destinations for a while.

According to police, the 19-year-old then shot two young men and seriously injured a woman. He then published hate messages and a sort of manifesto with homophobic, anti-Semitic and far-right content on digital networks. In the end he committed suicide.

Since the attack, there have been repeated demonstrations against discrimination against sexual minorities. Prime Minister Heger’s conservative-populist party has also been criticized. It also includes MPs who have repeatedly spoken contemptuously about homosexuals. (aeg/sda/dpa)
