At 6 a.m. on Thursday, German police stormed buildings in several states. The reason is a major attack on dangerous Islamists, as ‘Bild’ reports. More than 500 emergency services took part in the raid and 58 buildings were searched.
The largest deployment took place in the northern German city of Hamburg. More than 200 officers broke into 32 properties. House searches also took place in Munich and the capital Berlin. More properties were stormed in the states of Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.
The researchers mainly focus on Islamic associations that are believed to have spread radical Islamist ideas. They are suspected of being contrary to the idea of international understanding and the constitutional order. A ban on Iranian-funded clubs is currently being explored. (no)
